In our 2nd and final bonus episode for season 1, we are covering a topic that affects everyone, but with a special focus on women's health and hormones with expert Dr Clare Nieland.

With over 20 years’ experience of working with patients both in the national health service in the UK (NHS) and private sector, general practitioner Dr Nieland chat withs us about Longevity vs. Lifestyle medicine: and how we can measure, remedy or strengthen our health.

So, is it possible to slow down your biological clock without spending a fortune?

In this episode, we sit down with Dr. Clare Nieland, a specialist in the burgeoning field of longevity medicine who also practices at the Hooke Longevity Clinic in London.

We dive into the critical differences between simply living longer and "lifestyle-first" medicine—a grounded approach that uses simple, everyday changes to tackle the mental health struggles and wide-spread chronic diseases.

From the "village" of support every woman needs to the one specific test Dr. Nieland would run to determine a woman's lifespan, this conversation reveals how you can take control of your future health right from your own home.

Some people call it health span medicine. Other people call it longevity medicine.

It is emerging as one of the most exciting areas in healthcare innovation today.

I’m... half my week is in the NHS and half my week is spent in private medicine where I work at Hook Longevity Clinic in London.

Today we speak with Dr. Clare Nieland who specialises in longevity medicine but also is extremely passionate about lifestyle medicine.

She employs a lifestyle-first approach to her medicine, her patient care.

NHS work keeps me very grounded. I think that’s probably where I spend the most of my time dealing with medical complexity.

So polypharmacy, lots of different medications, lots of mental health problems, and lots and lots of chronic lifestyle related diseases.

But the lifestyle medicine for me is where my passion lies.

What are the factors that influence our health and well-being?

How do you measure longevity and the different tests that you run?

In the NHS, we have lots of tools that are available for testing.

That’s why I love lifestyle medicine... become healthier, feel well, live longer.

What’s the no. 1 difference between longevity and lifestyle medicine?

So lifestyle medicine is three key principles are...

Longevity medicine has become its own specialty.

If you could only run one test to diagnose a woman’s lifespan, would you... what would you do? What would you use?

OK. So, I think if I could only do one test, I would probably do...

And we can change that. We can bring it down and we can bring that down through really simple lifestyle changes.

For women, there are lots of other compounding factors. If you don’t look after yourself, you can’t look after everyone else.

I couldn’t agree with that more and I think that’s why it is so important to sort of build that village around you so that they can support you.

And nothing needs to cost a lot of money. All of this you can do at home, you know, in your own environment.
